i made some funky test posts using Thunderbird and Pan on FSXNet.
The "From" field includes an email in one post and the "To" field contains the
"newsgroup area tag" etc. It is Usenet that has to fit into FTNs.

i tend to use telnet for bbs signup only, switch to ssh after that and change
the password while on the secure connection. when you have secure
alternatives, why not use em?
