   After another Israeli massacre of civilians, one begins to question the   
   people's support for the Israeli government.   
      
   Nobody denies the right of any state to defend itself from attack, but   
   no-one could think that wounded civilians in Red Cross ambulances, or   
   unarmed UN observers, or now women and children, represented any threat   
   to the Israeli state.   
      
   Apologies for one mistake may be acceptable; for two less so; but three   
   is just too many. If the government does not now accept an immediate   
   ceasefire, the Israeli population should force them to - as, of course,   
   should the US and the UK.
