Disagreeing with someone       > is not fucking harassment you fucking assholes.       >       >              Many of David J. Vorous' posts include proclamations denying his own       personal attachment to any religions, such as the following:              "I'm free of all religions and gods, including that one and it's gods."       "I do not need dhogma or theology, so I'm not a Buddhist."       "Since I do not practice "yidam" there is no problem of that happening."       "I'm not a Buddhist, don't care to be."              But I haven't noticed any place where people suggested that Mr. Vorous       was an advocate of any religion, so why would he be consistently       inserting these personal denials into his posts? It sounds very much       like he wants to say "I don't need a crutch, but you do, so I'm better       than you". It's a thread that runs through years of his posts.              Artist Annie Lennox calls herself a Buddhist. Would David V dislike her       music because of this? I'm sure he would say he doesn't like her music       for some other reason, like maybe he's into classic rock, but I suspect       that he lets his obsession with sniffing out the taint of religion       poison his ability to appreciate life. I'm an atheist, but I appreciate       Annie's music very much. Have I really compromised my principles?              Politician Barak Obama calls himself a Christian, but he is intelligent,       thoughtful, and caring, and I appreciate these as virtues. Would Mr.       Vorous express disdain because of the taint of religion? Again, his       pattern would be to say he dislikes Mr. Obama for some other reason, but       is it really his obsession expressing itself again?              I've known other people who are instantly critical and contemptuous of a       person because of a single, minor perceived imperfection, but most of       these people have been fundamentalists of one kind of another. I guess       that's my perception of Mr. Vorous' mental state.              And by the way, you can sample Annie's music here: http://www.alennox.net/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
