XPost: alt.agnosticism, talk.atheism, alt.atheism       XPost: alt.philosophy       From: MAILTOsecretary@carcosa.de              Pro-Humanist FREELOVER:              > The most recent occurrence, near Fort Worth. [...]              (Sad sad story snipped)              Why?              Regarding mass-shootings like the recent one at your VA Tech I read an       interesting thesis on how youngsters today first grow up in an environment       that bombards them with the message that winning or losing doesn't matter       (thus they never really learn to cope with losing), then are released into       a world where suddenly winning is everything and losing is considered an       eternal and irreversible shame. I'll leave it to you how much truth there       is in this idea... but I guess it would also be a nice explanation for such       a thing as the one you described in your OP.       Ignoring, of course, for the moment the possibility that the mom in this       case was "simply" suffering from some mental disorder. Or was a       morontheist. Oh wait, there's not much of a difference.              --       "To his friend a man a friend shall prove, and gifts with gifts requite;       But men shall mocking with mockery answer, and fraud with falsehood meet."       (The Poetic Edda)       Must have been written with fundies in mind...              My personal judgment of monotheism:       http://www.carcosa.de/nojebus              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
