XPost: talk.atheism, alt.atheism, alt.agnosticism       From: prohumanist@ghg.net              - - -              The following, primarily directed at believers,       but also of interest regarding disbelievers -and-       doubters as to the manner in which your disbelief       or doubt addresses the claims made for the       Christian God:              - - -              __ 1. I believe that the Christian God exists.        a) Yes, b) No, c) Maybe, d) I want to believe,        for social/cultural reasons as well as for rea-        sons having to do with family influences, -but-        I struggle with a lot of what's presented as        'Truth' by Christian religious proponents              __ 2. I doubt or disbelieve that the Christian God        exists.        a) Yes, b) Not now c) Sometimes, d) Never              __ 3. I believe that by believing in the Christian        God in the 'right' way, you get to live for-        ever in an immortal paradise.        a) Yes, b) No, c) Sometimes, d) I wish        it was so, e) I prefer to accept that natural-        ism has no 'belief' parameters required for        immortal bliss, and instead, your immortal        fate while most likely to be simply a short-        term deal in a one-time manner, a continuance        within the constraints of the natural may be        a possibility, although it's likely to be as        riddled with downsides as was this one        and only certain opportunity to experience        it              __ 4. I believe that by falling short of believing        in the Christian God in the 'right' way, you        simply cease to exist -or- you suffer immortal        punishment -or- you get reawakened, judged,        and cast into a lake of fire for an agonizing        immortal death.        a) Yes, b) No, c) Sometimes, d) I prefer to        leave such matters up to others, as I find        the claims regarding the fate of non-Christians        to be counter to what one would expect of a        loving and caring God              __ 5. I believe that the Christian God has revealed        himself to all intelligent beings in the universe,        and has sent his son to die for their sins in every        instance.        a) Yes, b) No, as I have no belief that any intelli-        gent beings comparable to humans exist on any        planet other than earth, c) It's possible, d) I don't        believe there are any intelligent beings comparable        to humans anywhere other than on earth, and in any        case, the Christian God, in his matchless wisdom,        would provide a means of salvation unique to the        particular intelligent beings existing apart from        earth, what those means would be impossible for        humans to factually contemplate without knowing        the evolutionary and physical details of the intelli-        gent beings comparable to humans              __ 6. I believe that prior to Jesus, the Christian God had        a way for humans to get eternal salvation, that way        being to conform to the laws iterated in the Old        Testament.        a) Yes, b) No, c) Sometimes, d) I don't really care        about such matters, as all I'm interested in is the        way to get eternal salvation now              __ 7. Neanderthals, I believe the Christian God provided        them with a way to get eternal salvation.        a) Yes, b) No, c) Maybe, d) I don't really care        about such matters, as all I'm interested in is the        way to get eternal salvation now              __ 8. Muslims, the Christian God will treat them the same        way as he will treat *all* non-Christians.        a) Yes, b) No, c) Maybe, d) I don't really care        about such matters, as all I'm interested in is the        Christian way to get eternal salvation.              __ 9. Hindus, the Christian God will treat them the same        way as he will treat *all* non-Christians.        a) Yes, b) No, c) Maybe, d) I don't really care        about such matters, as all I'm interested in is the        Christian way to get eternal salvation.              __ 10. Buddhists, the Christian God will treat them the same        way as he will treat *all* non-Christians.        a) Yes, b) No, c) Maybe, d) I don't really care        about such matters, as all I'm interested in is the        Christian way to get eternal salvation.              - - - end of poll - - -              ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤ - ¤              ~~~       Pro-Humanist FREELOVER        http://fire.prohosting.com/prohuman       (Freethinking Realist Exploring       Expressive Liberty, Openness,       Verity, Enlightenment, & Rationality)       ~~~              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
