   To me it sounds like this is a defense for his carelessness.  He   
   probably fell asleep at the wheel and may have ingrained  this   
   excuse/defense into his brain . It would be interesting to know where   
   he's employed, to ascertain if he was tired or stressed out.   
   Has anyone noticed how many convicted   politicians, and others in the   
   public eye, when sentenced to prison become born again Christians?  They   
   begin carrying the Bible with them and especially during TV interviews?   
   They all proclaim they've found salvation and the way of the Lord.   
   Balderdash!!!  When they're released, it does  seem they're not as vocal   
   in      finding salvation.   
   Yes, in all things unlawful, the transgressors will "cop the God plea".   
   ..and so it goes....the world is learning
