   Projection -- the attribution of one's own ideas, feelings, or   
   attitudes to other people or to objects or to supposedly   
   supernatural beings or entities.

   With religion, projection was used by the writers of the books   
   in the bible to transfer human emotions onto God, Gods, the   
   Holy Spirit, the Devil, Demons, Angels, and Jesus Christ (just   
   a short list -- see religions for details on the panoply of claimed   
   supernatural beings asserted via the projection motif).   
      
   In the modern day, humans continue the practice. Here's one   
   example that members of the conservative christian right will   
   likely not be receptive to (at least not in public, although some   
   within that group will likely delight in the following, in private):
