XPost: soc.rights.human, alt.atheism, talk.atheism       XPost: alt.agnosticism       From: dalton@nfld.com              I believe that there should soon be a global spiritual       summit which would develop a standard that all religions       would have to meet and that standard would include       tolerance of other religions that meet the standard.       I think most religions already meet such a standard       on paper but don't always live up to that.              Obviously large religions and large denominations would       have representation at this summit but what about small       religions? I think there should be umbrella councils       consisting of representatives of small religions and       then the umbrella council could send a representative       (not leader, representative) to the main summit. for       example there could be a pagan/neopagan umbrella       council and a traditional native spirituality umbrella       council. Atheists should also have representation.              Also I think the main summit should interact with       and perhaps be sponsored by the UN and maybe a       UN representative could chair the summit. Also       the standard mentioned above should include the       Universal Declaration of Human Rights       http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/index.shtml .       It should also include a ban on war.              Good night,       David       http://www.nfld.com/~dalton/dtales.html Salmon on the Thorns              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
