|    Why does Wahid Azal LARP as a Bayani?    |
|    01 Feb 20 14:15:52    |
From: h.clerving@gmail.com              The answer is simple: because he is an opportunist who realizes that if he       were to act as he does while LARPing, say, as a Shīʿī ʿalim; throwing       around "fatāwā," previously on Dugin, where he commits takfīr on someone       who doesn't even lay claim to        Islam, and lately on homosexuality; and self-publishing shirkī tomes that       repudiate the very people over whom he is LARPing as a "representative," while       using the excuse of "satire" to anyone who calls him out on it — then he       would be immediately        rebuked for his behaviour and cast out. Therefore, he chose a small, obscure,       and vulnerable tradition such as the Bayān to appropriate to his own ends       while, of his own admission, maintaining to real connection to that tradition:              "I should also underscore the fact that my esoteric Bayání        Gnostic Universalism is at the same time sometimes in sharp and independent       contrast to their [the Bayānīs'] own somewhat mild exoteric approach to the       Bayán. [...] As a point        of fact, I have no problems whatsoever expressing my utter contempt for       all forms of exoteric religion and those institutions who represent them"       (Wahid Azal, Liber Decatriarchia Mystica, p. 19).              Also, this allows Wahid, in lieu of a PhD, to pretend as if he has some degree       of academic pedigree because he has done some work (though hasn't published       anything of note) on one of the most obscure sub-fields of Islamic studies,       where, in his typical        fashion, he continues to make claims for which he only cites "private       correspondences" as evidence.              And all of these things, coincidentally, are even more things which Wahid       continues to project onto his enemies. He accuses all of his Sunnī critics of       being takfīrīs while being guilty of takfīr himself; he accuses Dugin of       shirk, while being guilty        of shirk himself; and he accuses everyone who he's fallen out with of lying       while constantly backpedaling on his embarrassing claims and invoking taqiyya       as an excuse. Just to let you know, Wahid, taqiyya is not meant to be a       convenient excuse for your        pathological lying; that's called spiritual bypass.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
