It would be obvious to anyone who actually does live in poverty: those who are   
   poor tend to be more generous with what extra money they have because they   
   know how painful being short on money is. It heightens their sense of empathy   
   for others. Rich    
   people hoard their money and never have to worry about not having to afford   
   things like medical emergencies, so they are far less likely to care about   
   others' suffering.
