XPost: alt.philosophy.taoism, alt.philosophy.zen       From: wudao@wuji.net              Ummmmmmm wrote, perhaps to an individual:              >I understand that it's very, very important for you to continue to       >believe that what I've been pointing to has absolutely no relevance to       >you or your life.              Can your understanding be incorrect?              >In other words, you need to believe that I'm aberrant, insane,       >up-the-wall, deluded. A one-off. That I erroneously believe that what       >I've experienced can be experienced by anybody.              There is a difference, in my understanding,       between saying that what you experienced can be experienced       by anybody, and saying no one can possibly experience       what you experienced unless it is experienced       the way you experienced it.              >Well, pile up the sand bags - the waters are rising.              When the waters are high enough, anyone can go swimming.       Assuming anyone is able to swim, which is possible, I agree.       It's an assumption. I see you making it a presumption.              If someone helped you learn to swim, that's great.              If you believe, in all your heart, anyone can swim, that's great.       You might be correct. If only everyone found the living Master       that had the key to the swimming pool of their heart-mind.              It's a great knowing you know.              If you know, however it is you know, that no one can swim       unless he or she was taught to swim by a living Master,       then that is the extent of your knowledge.              That's as far as you can swim to sea.       Or sail in a ship to see.              Since I have had a living Master, personally,       and I actually know how to swim, I know how to swim.              If you don't see me swimming very well,       you don't like the way I do the butterfly,       then I'll keep on swimming anyhow.              Do you know the story of the bumblebee       and how the engineers figured it couldn't fly?              You remind me of those engineers.              Bumblebees are all around you.       You can hear them buzz, but can't see them flying.              They are flying. Without your permission.              I find that to be a curious phenomenon.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
