I need to say a few words about suicide. I've been there, on the edge,
loaded gun in hand, staring at the thing and finding no reason to go on
with the charade. It pissed me off bigtime, that not only can a human
being be shoved into such a corner, but that any such human being must do
the wetwork himself, without even the aid of a euthanasia clinic to make
things tidy for whoever discovers the mess. Not everyone has available to
them the kind of anger which in that instance saved my life, some are more
gentle creatures who prefer to slip quietly into the night. But all that
aside, the final responsibility always rests with the individual who makes
the last choice, suicide isn't something one can be pushed through, but one
can certainly be pushed to the point of considering it.

Testing is wonderful stuff, it lets you know if you've learnt the material,
but it's pointless without a certificate of competency, and nobody I've
encountered yet in this life is qualified to grant such a thing, especially
not in the area of "mental culture". I believe it's possible for people to
learn, but not that they can be made to learn.

Maybe I now qualify for the "Stupidest Of Breed" award, but I think I'd
need to decline in favor of society.
