XPost: alt.messianic, alt.bible, alt.christnet.christianlife       From: a202010@lycos.com              the progression here is interesting,,,to me.              of note is this idea of the Law being like a "mirror"              and Moses wears a 'veil' and as such, Paul suggests       that the Law, aside from Christ, is 'veiled'       to understanding, and              Paul speaks of seeing at first, through the dimness of a mirror       but then "face-to-face" and, but, that his 'mirrored' reflection       of God's own face through the Law becomes clearer over time       and is more fully lit by and through Christ, and then              we see James speaking of "freedom's ideal Law" or "perfect       Law of liberty" and how one may progress and change       from seeing God in a mirror, and immediately walking       away and forgetting what he, himself looked like in that mirror,       to one who peers into that mirror, and is transformed       in to that Image of Christ in word and deed,              and then, of course, we see how Jesus "opens the scriptures       of the Law and Prophets" and expounds on -his- own self       -from- these sources and begins to remove the veil, and              How Paul never did cast down The Law or The Prophets       but 'believed all things written therein" and, that,              the Christ he presented was clearly visible -in-...       ...The Law and the Prophets...                            =              When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child,       I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish       things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.       Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.        [1 Corinthians 13:11-12]       =              Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech—       unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of       Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.              But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains       unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is       taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil       lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil       is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of       the Lord is, there is liberty.              But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror       the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same       image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.        [2 Corinthians 3:12-18]              =              So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear,       slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not       produce the righteousness of God.              Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness,       and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able       to save your souls.              But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.       For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man       observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes       away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks       into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a       forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed       in what he does.              If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his       tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.       Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this:       to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself       unspotted from the world. [James 1:19-24]              =              Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you       while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which       were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms       concerning Me.” [Luke 24:44]              =              Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of        whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—       Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” [John 1:45]              =              Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.       But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which       they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing       all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets.       I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that       there will be a resurrection of the dead,       both of the just and the unjust. [Acts 24:13-15]              =              But we desire to hear from you what you think; for concerning       this sect, we know that it is spoken against everywhere.       ”So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at       his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of       the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from       both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till       evening. And some were persuaded by the things which       were spoken, and some disbelieved. [Acts 28:22-24]              =              But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed,       being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, [Romans 3:21]              =                     strange that "righteousness apart from the law"              is attested to -by- The Law and The Prophets...              ...through the looking glass...it gets a little strange                     and further...              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
