   Interesting notion that, certainly one way of fitting the conflicting   
   versions together. Incidentally, I hear it said from time to time that the   
   idea of reincarnation was taken quite seriously in the early Christian   
   church, and that it was really only abandoned for political reasons i.e. the   
   faction who didn't believe in reincarnation came out on top of the heap! I   
   can't remember how reliable a source that came from, though.
