|    Twelve Days of Xmas - Day 2 Christianity    |
|    25 Dec 14 03:14:07    |
XPost: alt.atheism, alt.talk.creationism       From: Budikka1@netscape.net              The twelve days of Xmas actually start on Xmas day, but this is a       countdown to Xmas showing why Xmas is as senseless as it is stupid as a       Christian death-cult ritual.              There is actually no evidence whatsoever that anyone died to save       humanity (or anything else). Crucifixions, yeah, were two-a-penny back       then, but there's no evidence that some son of a god was so dealt with,       let alone that he rose from the dead after a couple of days.              Without any evidence, there's no reason to believe.              Here's a story:       There was a rabbi, name of Yeshua. He was locally popular, but       otherwise unknown. He was a bit controversial and raised the ire of the       local authorities, but before he could be taken prisoner and crucified,       he fled Jerusalem and went into hiding.              He never died, never rose from the dead, but his disciples put the story       about that he did indeed die and did indeed ascend to Heaven, thereby       "proving" he was the real and true Messiah. Over time, the story       accreted to itself all kinds of additions.              The fact is that there's just as much evidence for our fiction as there       is for the Biblical fiction (i.e. none).              So prove me wrong: prove my story is wrong and yours is right. Go       ahead. I'll wait. I won't hold my breath.              Budikka - highlighting the 'mental' in fundamentalism.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
