   A teen mother killed her newborn baby girl — who was only   
   minutes old — by throwing her from an eighth-floor window   
   because she feared her family’s reaction, officials said.   
      
   Mubashra Uddin’s naked and bloody baby was still breathing when   
   she was found lying in the grass outside a Chicago high-rise   
   apartment on Wednesday night, the Chicago Tribune reported.   
      
   The 19-year-old mom allegedly chucked her baby out her bedroom   
   window minutes after giving birth because she heard her mother   
   approaching her room, officials said.   
      
   The new mom secretly gave birth at 11:20 p.m. and had not told   
   her parents, who are Pakistani and Muslim, that she was   
   pregnant, knowing they would not approve, assistant state   
   attorney Patrick Turnock told the newspaper.   
      
   Uddin, a student at DeVry University, quietly gave birth to the   
   7 pound, 11 ounce girl in a bedroom she shared with her younger   
   sister. Police found bloody sheets and a pair of scissors in the   
   room.   
      
   Only her boyfriend, who is the father of the baby, and a friend   
   knew about Uddin’s secret, Turnock said.   
      
   The teen managed to hide her growing belly from her unsuspecting   
   family with loose clothing, added Turnock.   
      
   The infant had extensive injuries, including fractures to the   
   skull, spine and ribs when she was found still alive by a   
   passerby at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.   
      
   The unnamed baby died minutes after being rushed to a local   
   hospital, at 12:25 a.m. the next day, officials said.   
      
   “Her family is standing by her,” Uddin’s lawyer, Adam Sheppard,   
   told the Tribune.   
      
   Uddin, who is charged with first-degree murder, is currently   
   hospitalized and is being held without bail, police said.   
      
   The 19-year-old mom denied everything at first but authorities   
   said she has since made multiple admissions on video.   
      
   During a hearing on Saturday, Judge Peggy Chiampas said the   
   family circumstances that played into the infant’s death would   
   be considered, according to the Chicago Tribune.   
      
   Illinois has a safe haven law which allows infants up to 30 days   
   old to be dropped off at places like hospitals with no questions   
   asked.   
      
   “I would have taken the baby (and) I’m 71,” local resident Katy   
   Gray told WBBM-TV.
