It likely is telling that the ID perps are trying to elevate one of
their most disreputable members in terms of science denial and
dishonesty. Claiming that Wells was the Newton of the ID creationist
   scam is pathetic.

I put up a Wiki link to Wells' book that is under discussion, and all
the book was, was a rehash of anti-science creationist arguments that
had been used for decades by the Scientific creationists before Wells
became an ID perp by joining the Discovery Institute creationist Wedge
   faction.

   Wells' icons
   1	Miller–Urey experiment
   2	Darwin's tree of life
   3	Homology in vertebrate limbs
   4	Haeckel's embryos
   5	Archaeopteryx
   6	Peppered moth
   7	Darwin's finches
   8	Four-winged fruit flies
   9	Fossil horses
   10	Hominid evolution

All of them were being used to deceive creationist rubes who wanted to
believe the scientific creationists before the Supreme Court decision in
1985 that spawned the name change from creationism to intelligent design
among the ID perps. Wells just continued the dishonest
   misrepresentation of the same material.

There is no question that all 10 were abused by the scientific
creationists decades before Wells repeated the abuse in his book. In
reality these were among the Icons of scientific creationism
anti-science. They were the common topics that the scientific
creationists would lie about in order to deny the science that they
didn't like, and all the scientific creationist bogus arguments failed
to impress the Supreme Court, just as Wells' book had no impact on any
   competent and informed honest individuals.

#1 is #3 of the ID perps' Top Six (the origin of life denial). #2 is #5
of the ID perps' Top Six (includes the Cambrian explosion). #10 is #6
of the ID perps' Top Six (gaps in the human fossil record). #1, 2, and
4 (the Big Bang, fine tuning, and IC (flagellum, blood clotting, and
adaptive immune response) respectively) of the ID perps' Top Six were
not included in Wells' book likely because #1 and 2 aren't in
introductory biology textbooks and Behe's type of IC has never been
determined to exist in nature, so textbooks can't be faulted for not
mentioning it. The Top Six gap denial arguments were all used by the
scientific creationists long before they lost out in the Supreme Court
   case in 1985.

Anyone just has to compare the 10 in Wells' book to the rest of the
creationist Icons of scientific creationist denial to know how bogus
Wells' book has to be. There are a lot of creationist Icons that aren't
in honest biology textbooks. The second law of thermodynamics,
bombardier beetle, piltdown man, bull frog proteins, Gish's half cow
half whale transitional, all the fossil gap arguments etc. The gene
sharing between bananas and humans is still going around, and Gish had
his flagellum is a designed machine that could not have evolved over a
decade before Behe used the argument.

The scientific creationist misused all 10 of Wells' icons decades before
Wells wrote his book. They are all among the icons of creationist
science denial. Such is the legacy of the Newton of the ID creationist
scam. All 10 were routine parts of the Gish gallop, though, probably,
not all were included all the time, but Gish would cram as much denial
into the Gish gallop as he could.
