   level was likely less because they had to resort to cousin matings and   
   selection of the best reproductive pairs each generation.  So they   
   likely selected for less inbred birds. Under full-sib mating all lines   
   are lost after just 3 inbred generations (they fail to produce a male   
   and female to continue the line).  As a side note these quail have been   
   suggested to be the mana from heaven that saved the Israelites from   
   starvation.
