   IIUC you refer to what some people call cafeteria Catholics, where   
   people pick and choose what teachings they follow. My understanding   
   is everybody does that, both Catholics and non-Catholics, and such   
   behavior doesn't disqualify them from being Catholic. Of course, some   
   people have a different understanding, especially regarding abortion.   
   My understanding is other people don't have a say how individuals   
   self-identify.
