   I can debate substantively only against something that has at least   
   the form of substance; ad hominems don't reach even that standard.

   Then, if that were true, you'd best serve yourself and honor the   
   "substantiveness" of your debate topic by avoiding petty distractions or   
   detours. But, as I said early on, posters often have a personal axe to   
   grind, and the topic merely serves as a starting point to hone it. No one   
   now cares about the original topic, least of all, you, as the conversation   
   has now degenerated, by your choice, into a series of  barbs that have   
   nothing to do with the topic. The topic is now...your self-image and how it   
   measures up to others in your estimation.   
   Sorry, bub, but you're lost in the woods...perhaps, the woods were more   
   interesting, though, eh?
