   And on what do you base this assumption? I would agree that almost everyone   
   who is burgled is burgled for possessions and/or money -- but the leap that   
   almost everyone is burgled for money to pay for a drug habit is a big leap.   
      
   I agree that a large percent of burglaries fund drug habits, but I wouldn't   
   say that legalizing drugs would eliminate burglaries. It would probably   
   reduce them, though, because part of the reason people burgle for drug habits   
   is because when a drug habit is illegal it requires so much time and effort to   
   maintain it that it is hard to keep a steady job -- not to mention the higher   
   expense for an illegal drug habit.   
      
   Where the drug is legal, though, the majority of those with a habit fund it   
   through gainful employment. Take a look at tobacco -- one of the most   
   addictive drugs there is -- for an example.
