   And it's entirely justified.   
      
   None of us should have any illusions about the nature of the worldwide   
   armament industry, whether we benefit from it directly, as in the form   
   of lucrative employment, or not. It is a self-perpetuating phenomenon,   
   the very existence of which depends on never-ending threats and   
   conflicts. And if threats and conflicts are ever in short supply, you   
   can count on the arms industry to fashion some out of whole cloth and   
   then bomb the hell out of it.
