Many people have smoked for years with no ill effects. It does not mean
there are none, but means that some people are not susceptible to the
harmful agent. I suspect this is the same with all drugs: a certain
proportion of users will go on to develop mental illness some would have
anyway, some as a result of the drug. However, to claim that all users will
do so is wrong, but so is it to claim that nobody will. In an ideal world
people would be told of the risks and allowed to make their own minds up
   about the risks and benefits.
