   It's anecdotal "evidence", told retrospectively. He doesn't see the   
   people who don't have problems. Basing an opinion on retrospective data   
   from putatively normal people is bad enough, from people with problems   
   severe enough to cause commitment to a mental hospital is bonkers. Being   
   around crazy people is, in general, not good for one's mental health.
