   And yet we put kiddies on Ritalin. The party line on meth may be as   
   distorted as about the rest of the substances of abuse. But even way   
   back in the days of "Laugh In" and "The Smother's Brother's" the word on   
   the street was "speed kills". OTOH, we only see the people who run into   
   problems with meth or any other illegal drug, in general, because mostly   
   those people who can handle them don't come to the attention of the   
   authorities.   
      
   Alcohol, now, it's been shown that users live longer than non users, if   
   they stick to one or two drinks a day. Anyway there are powerful   
   interests behind alcohol consumption and many people handle it well, not   
   like tobacco where it addicts everyone and everyone experiences negative   
   effects.
