        In the May 18-24 "Pink Section" aka San Francisco Chronicle and at   
   SFGate.com   
   Sunday Datebook, page 49, we have Chronicle Classic a feature of past   
   column that   
   appeared earlier.  This one is from June 9, 1970.   
        It is a Herb Caen column (he was a start of the 3 dot columnists).   
        The first item relates that "Pat" Edmund Brown is trying to get the   
   15 years   
   without parole of 3 young women sentences  for 3rd offenders convicted of   
   Marijuana possession reduced.  Funny thing is that Brown signed the law in   
   1962 when he was governor.  In 1970 he was calling it cruel and unfair.
