Christian are brought up that way with Christianity or any other
religion imposed over their inborn tendencies. Denial of sexual
preference leads to all sorts of problems. Masochism, sadism, and the
like. As when a river is damned and eventually the current finds
   its way out.
Some people have strong sexual proclivities and even various
painful therapies cannot change what is inborn and pressure keeps
building until the way out is found. People with weaker desires
may be able to live in an abstinent fashion. be monogamous or be
happy with vows of chastity in the RC priesthood but too many idealist
young people think that Christianity with its anti-sex views is
essential to Salvation before they have any idea of what we need
to be saved from which is primarily ignorance of reality
Sexual denial can lead to depression and acting out violently.
I cannot prove it but there is or at least was when I was young 75 years
ago to 50 years ago a class of men who may or may not be bisexual but
who sought out and engaged in bar brawls to satisfy their needs for
contact with other men. I had occasion in USN ERs to repair their
minor wounds with anesthetic, needle and suture.

I knew of one bisexual gay man who was a hairdresser but to
stay with his wife and family he became a heroin addict which is
well-known for quelling sexual desires. It may well be that many
addicts these days are trying to escape sexual desire which frightens
and perhaps disgust them as they are trying to live within the
   limits of Christian sexuality.
