No reasons       are given for this alternative, but one would be very sure that       the freedom of movement and work within the EU is the prime objection to       full membership. Also a Christian club image will not be destroyed by       colonizing a handy geographical area without giving a membership status.              - Turkey is subjected to conformity discussions with EU. Out of 33       commissions only one has finished the work. Most of these commissions       stopped because conditions demanded from Turkey are more stringent than       those of any of the recent additions were subjected to.              All of the academical studies are done under assumptions that Turkey       will be subject to normal regulations as other member countries. That is       the normal assumption, yet EU demands very heavy specific agricultural       and farming restrictions as well as restrictions of exports of       manufactured goods.              The more Turkey seeks accession to EU, the more stringent demands bring       her manufacturing and agriculture industry to stand still. Turkey is a       paradise for importers. This in fact makes her position stronger if she       decides to withdraw her application.              However this is not likely to happen, as the existing government is more       in favour of joining the EU as the only Muslim Nation. Turkey will be       sponsored to no limit as long as she will be in EU and defend the rights       of the Islamic population in EU.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
