XPost: alt.news.macedonia, soc.culture.greek       From: christes00k@optonline.net              This is a multi-part message in MIME format.              World’s most expensive chocolate egg for auction in Platres        By Anna Hassapi              A CHOCOLATE workshop in Platres village is preparing for an Easter egg charity       auction with a show-stopping egg valued at €25,000.               The egg has attracted the attention of the Guinness Book of Records for       ratification as the most expensive chocolate Easter egg ever made.              “Our showstopper will be decorated with a four carat diamond pendant, one       carat diamond ring, rubies, emeralds, some sapphire and amethysts,” said John       Adams, who owns and runs the Chocolate Workshop in Platres with his wife       Efpraxia Perdiou.              This egg will in fact be the first of its kind. “No one has ever made a       chocolate Easter egg with diamonds. The closest thing is the Faberg? egg, but       that’s porcelain. We were inspired by Faberg? to make this, but ours is made       of chocolate, not porcelain.        So there isn’t anything like it – we are setting the benchmark for luxury       chocolate eggs,” said Efpraxia Perdiou.              Guinness Book of Records will be present at the auction in Platres to ratify       the egg. “We contacted the Guinness Book of Records and they have approved our       attempt. An official Guinness Book photographer will be present at the auction       to take a picture        of the egg.               Independent professional valuers will also be present,” Adams explained.              “At the auction, there will be a reserve on the big one, set at €15,000. A       number of people have already expressed interest and have said they will bid       on it. No reserve will be set for the other eggs,” he added.              The Chocolate Workshop plans to specialise in chocolate cups with traditional       Cypriot fillings. “All of our chocolate cups are hand made and filled with       traditional Cypriot ingredients such as zivania, commandaria, glyko, Cyprus       coffee and palouze,”        Adams explained.              The auction will take place on Saturday, April 5 at 3.30pm and will mark the       Chocolate Workshop’s official opening. The workshop’s owners plan to establish       the charity Easter egg auction as an annual event. In addition to the       showstopper, bidders can        choose between a giant one-meter high chocolate egg and a variety of other       delicacies.              All profit from the auction will go to the Sirius Dog Foundation, which       operates a dog shelter in the Limassol district.                            Copyright © Cyprus Mail 2008                                                         |
