   China remains a poor country. The dramatic increase in wealth has three   
   causes:   
      
   1. The abandonment of wrong policies (finally), most specifically the commune   
   farming system and state-owned factories.   
   2. A huge influx of foreign investment.   
   3. The deliberate decision to let foreign capitalist pollute the environment   
   and exploit the working class.   
      
   None of these can take China to the next level.
