   Erm, from what I know of history, (very brief summery follows) Franco   
   was in sympathetic to Hitler, and was going to allow him to use Spain as   
   part of his move across the peninsular, probably to allow Hilter to   
   reinforce his position in north Africa.   
      
   He asked Franco for many troops, and Franco asked him for a ridiculous   
   amount of money and Northern Africa in exchange.  The horse trading fell   
   apart and Hilter left Franco alone; However, these two were ideology   
   aligned being far right wing.   
      
   At the same time, Franco was preparing to launch a gas attack on   
   Gibraltar.  Luckily, this did not happen.
