From: x@y.com              >Red States Have Higher Gun Death Rates Than Blue States. Here's Why              Always cite the source! Studies have shown that any sentence       beginning with: "Studies have shown..." is nonsense!              The relationship between gun ownership and firearm homicide rates in       the United States, 1981-2010 (Siegel M, Ross C, King C, 2013)       Am J Public Health. 2013 Nov;103(11):2098-105. doi:       10.2105/AJPH.2013.301409. Epub 2013 Sep 12.              It was published in *The American Journal of Public Health*, not JAMA.       This only matters if you're a stickler for bibliographic details, but,       then... does the name "Michael Bellsiles" mean anything to you?              The really *major* point I'd raise is that the design of the study is       incapable of stating "why" it's so that Republican states had greater       rates of gun deaths in the three decades under the study. That little       matter is why John Lott has never been published... well... that and       the "Mary Rosh Affair", of course.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
