But don't forget that the Donald is his own predecessor (and, with a
$1.24 billion positive delta in his net worth over the past year, has
done a *very* effective job of collecting his paychecks!) Our issues
   with immigration are accurately traced to the country's founding;
slavery might be viewed as immigration, so it certainly didn't start
with Joe Biden. I remember well "Operation Intercept" from 1971
   during Tricky's first term:
   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Intercept While billed as
intercepting pot, this was also very much an immigration thing.
During the '60s, we were preoccupied with the Vietnam War, but
immigration matters were certainly lurking just beneath the surface.
Since Operation Intercept, there have been nine Republican terms and
six Democratic presidents; thus, the Republicans have certainly had
their opportunity to have addressed the matter.

The Donald's approach has thrown the whole country into chaos... but,
then, Trump ver 1 also led by chaos, and Americans reelected him, so
we must like it. (We're like a couple in an abusive, battering
relationship who keep running right back into it!) Maybe some people
like the chaos; however, it is simply not sustainable as an
immigration policy. We're like the artillery commander who unleashes
a huge bombardment of his enemy's positions... "Wow! Just *look* at
that fire power!" But his logistics aren't with him; he can't keep it
up... soon he has nothing left in reserve.

We must move beyond the culture wars to an intelligent, proactive, and
*sustainable* border policy... currently, we have political
retribution (where ICE enforcement is punishment for
Democratically-led states) and knee-jerk reactions. The Donald will
soon shoot his wad, then we're back in political stalemate until his
term is up; assuming he lasts *that* long.

As a Republican, I'm not a big fan of Joe Biden; however, he did make
several proposals that I thought congress should have considered. If
history repeats, then we would elect the next administration as far
left as the Donald is right (or where ever he is.) If we don't manage
to snap out of it, we're on track for a societal implosion.
