XPost: ok.general, alt.dumb, alt.politics.nationalism.black       XPost: alt.fan.rush-limbaugh, sac.politics       From: leroysoetoro@americans-first.com              https://kfor.com/news/oklahoma-legislature/pittman-pleads-guilty-to-       felony-charges-resigns-from-oklahoma-house/              OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — An Oklahoma state lawmaker pleaded guilty Wednesday       to three felony charges, admitting she misspent campaign funds and       conspired with her assistant to forge checks and bank documents when she       was required to pay the money back.              State Rep. Ajay Pittman, a Democrat from Oklahoma City, resigned shortly       after entering the guilty plea.              The criminal case against Pittman dates back to 2022, when the Oklahoma       Ethics Commission investigated her for improper use of campaign funds.              In 2024, Pittman admitted she misspent nearly $18,000 from her campaign       fund as part of a settlement agreement with the Ethics Commission.              Under that agreement, Pittman agreed to repay nearly $18,000 to her       campaign and pay a fine of more than $17,000.              The agreement required Pittman to make the payments using her own money,       not campaign funds.              In June, the Ethics Commission required Pittman to make her first       repayment of $12,000 and provide proof that the money came from her       personal account.              Court documents allege that is where Pittman ran into trouble.              Investigators allege Pittman asked her legislative assistant to help       doctor a check and bank documents to make it appear the money came from       her personal account.              Last fall, investigators with the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office       served search warrants at the homes of Pittman and her assistant, Trena       Byas.              Court documents say investigators found a computer containing instant       message exchanges between Pittman and Byas from the day the repayment was       due.              According to court records, Pittman asked Byas for urgent help, telling       her she needed a $2,500 check dated Jan. 27 of that year and needed it to       match a specific account.              Court documents also say Pittman instructed Byas on how to alter a bank       statement by blacking out certain information.              Byas allegedly asked, “Will this work?”              Court records say Pittman responded, “Absolutely.”              Byas then allegedly sent Pittman the image, and Pittman replied, “Sent.”              Investigators say Byas later admitted during an interview that she       doctored the check because Pittman asked her to.              Both Pittman and Byas face three felony charges for conspiracy, forgery,       and violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.              Pittman sent House Speaker Kyle Hilbert her resignation letter shortly       after pleading guilty Wednesday morning.              In a statement, Hilbert said, in part, “This conduct is unacceptable and       falls well below the standard expected of anyone serving in the Oklahoma       House of Representatives.”              News 4 reached out to Pittman’s attorneys and also attempted to speak with       her at her home on Wednesday, but neither wanted to comment.              In exchange for pleading guilty, Attorney General Gentner Drummond said       Pittman will receive a seven-year deferred sentence.              In a statement on Wednesday, Drummond said, in part, “Public officials       hold a sacred trust with the people they serve. When that trust is       violated for personal gain, it strikes at the very heart of our       institutions.”              House Democratic Leader Cyndi Munson also issued a statement on Wednesday.              “When these severe allegations against Rep. Ajay Pittman came out in       October, the Oklahoma House Democratic Caucus temporarily suspended Rep.       Pittman from House Democratic Caucus membership and activities pending the       results of the investigation,” Munson said. “The Oklahoma House Democratic       Caucus remains committed to accountability and transparency for all       elected officials. We will continue our work in serving all constituents       and showing up day after day to find solutions to the problems they face.”                     --       November 5, 2024 - Congratulations President Donald Trump. We look       forward to America being great again.              We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that       stupid people won't be offended.              Every day is an IQ test. Some pass, some, not so much.              Thank you for cleaning up the disasters of the 2008-2017, 2020-2024 Obama       / Biden / Harris fiascos, President Trump.              Under Barack Obama's leadership, the United States of America became the       The World According To Garp. Obama sold out heterosexuals for Hollywood       queer liberal democrat donors.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
