   County Court at Law Judge Rosie Speedlin-Gonzalez appeared in court but   
   not to preside over a case. She was there to be arraigned.   
      
   She is being charged with one count of unlawful restraint by a peace   
   officer or judge, a second-degree felony, and official oppression, a Class   
   A misdemeanor.   
      
   Her indictment reads that in December of 2024, while acting as a judge,   
   prosecutors claim Speedlin-Gonzalez intentionally or knowingly restrained   
   a person by restricting their movements without consent, substantially   
   interfering with her liberty.   
      
   We reached out to the alleged victim in the case, a local attorney, for   
   reaction about the case, but are waiting to hear back.   
      
   The Bexar County District Attorney filed a motion for recusal regarding   
   the case, so a special prosecutor Brian Cromeens of Goliad County — was   
   appointed to handle it.   
      
   The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion for recusal   
   regarding the case against Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez "We are   
   prohibited from providing any further comment on the matter," said the   
   Bexar County District Attorney's Office about the judge's arrest.   
      
   The motion was granted by the court and the case is now being handled by   
   Special Prosecutor Brian Cromeens of Goliad County.   
      
   Meanwhile, we reached out to Speedlin-Gonzalez’s office for comment and   
   are still waiting on a response.   
      
   What we do know is that she presides over the Reflejo Court, a court   
   specializing in reducing domestic violence by offering specialized   
   supervision for offenders, including matching them with officers who have   
   smaller caseloads.   
      
   Officials with the county tell us Speedlin-Gonzalez is currently being   
   paid, but her caseload is being distributed to other judges.
