   A transgender high school track athlete won first place in the girls'   
   competition over the weekend.   
      
   According to the official results, Ab Hernandez, a senior at Jurupa   
   Valley High School in Riverside County, recorded a jump of 39 feet and   
   10 inches at the winter championships.   
      
   Hernandez's case sparked controversy over transgender athletes competing   
   in women's sports when competing in Clovis last year.   
      
   California lawmakers, school board members, and athletes have called   
   upon CIF leadership to uphold the intent of Title IX to protect   
   fairness, safety, and opportunity in girls’ sports.
