Nothing good came of it or ever could have come of it. Start with the fact
   that
the U.S. was defeated. Continue on with the fact that 58,000 American military
personnel lost their lives *in vain*, that is, for *NOTHING*. Continue further
with the fact that the rotten, lie-based decision to start the war, and the
utterly inept and incompetent prosecution of the war by our bungling military
contributed to a decade and a half of social cancer, and there simply was no
"fruit" except poisonous shriveled berries that came out of it.
