   On the other hand, some tend to take all the brush they cut and toss it   
   in the yard and mow over it and chop it into mulch and then they mulch   
   around plants and in the garden...  and they don't need to buy   
   fertilizer with all the compost being produced.  But if your yard is on   
   what was productive FARM LAND with ample rain you don't need much   
   fertilizer or mulch to get things to grow...  SO once again it seems   
   it's NOT one size fits all.   
      
   I know someone who uses a 7.0 Hp gasoline bagging mower and it saves at   
   least 50$ and probably $100-$200 or more in fertilizer and it has the   
   power to mulch the sticks and the brush with the cut grass. Which means   
   no clipping going to the DUMP and no fuel used to get it to the dump. It   
   seems there's more than one way to skin a cat. Which way saves more   
   petroleum based products and creates less hazardous waste like heavy   
   metals from batteries?   
      
   High Nitrogen yard fertilizer you buy is made from Natural gas...
