There's no       other       word to describe it. This wasn't a "riot," and the goal of the        nsurrectionists       was not merely to vandalize the Capitol. Their goal was to prevent Congress       from certifying the election results — the free, fair and clean election that       Biden legitimately won. They were seeking to prevent Congress from carrying       out       its constitutionally mandated duty, in order to keep the election loser in       office. Why Trump, who organized and directed and fomented the insurrection,       and the insurrectionists thought it would work is a mystery. It was never       going       to work. But that was their goal, beyond rational dispute.              It was an insurrection. There is no other term, unless you prefer attempted       coup d'état, to describe what they were attempting to do. They were trying to       carry out Trump's wish to subvert the election, and they were doing so       violently       and illegally. It was Trump's last ditch effort to remain in office despite       having lost the election — the free, fair, clean, no-fraud election.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
