   They are both a republic and a parliamentary democracy. A republic is *any*   
   form   
   of government that is not a dictatorship and not a monarchy. Austria, Ireland,   
   Iceland, Germany, France, Finland, Israel, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Greece   
   - all of these are republics. All but one of them are also parliamentary   
   democracies.   
      
   Parliamentary democracies are republics.   
      
   Hartung does not understand republicanism - not in any way.
