Senior Application Database Administrator (DBA)

Job Responsibilities

Performance tune databases and SQL (Triggers, functions, procedures)

Work with development resources on proactive tuning of code

Analyze and recommend data indexing strategies based on query usage

Participate in impact analysis in preparation for system and database upgrades

Create database objects based on models and business requirements

Promote scripts and code through the environments with a working knowledge of a
 source control system (e.g. Microsoft Team Foundation Server)

Manage user access and authorization to the database environments

Oversee and perform capacity planning for data warehouse databases

Proactive monitoring of systems to identify performance bottlenecks

Technical Skills

Knowledge of storage design for Teradata preferred

Working knowledge of temporal tables in enterprise data warehouse structures is
 preferred

Working knowledge of SAP and Teradata Analytics for SAP (TAS) is a plus

Understanding of extract, transform, load (ETL) tools and scripts (e.g. BTeQ,
BODS)

Financial Reporting background a plus

Database Modelling a plus

Ability to manage a variety of technically complicated tasks effectively

Demonstrated initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and
meet tight deadlines while still maintaining high quality

Strong communication skills

Demonstrated self-starter that is motivated to make the database environment as
 clean and secure as possible

Able to independently and proactively identify issues and consult with team
members to correct them

Qualifications:

5+ years as a DBA in any major database platform

3+ years experience in Teradata Database Administration

Core Engine (required)

TDR (teradata replication) (preferred)

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required (or equivalent
work experience)
