I didn't think that the "dunsel" scene meant that McCoy never attended 
the Academy.  A "dunsel" is a slang term used by some midshipmen there.  
But McCoy was pursuing medical courses there, so he probably didn't 
interact much with the hotshot kids who were destined for command.
