Hi Maurice! 06 Oct 2016 13:35, from Maurice Kinal -> Richard Menedetter: RM>> Faster CPU which is 64 capable. MK> That seem to be debatable. Which part?? I have neither seen any claims that a RPi2 is faster than a RPi3, nor any debate about RPi3 being ARMv8 based. But I agree that a 64 bit OS is not on the top of the things we need. RM>> Integrated WLAN and BT. MK> The wlan interests me since it *should* be mesh capable. MK> I've never cared about bluetooth but somebody around here might. Both are nice additions that you virtually get for free. It is like with the 64 bit mode. You do not need to use it, but if you want it is there ;) MK> So far I am not convinced. Convinced about what? That the RPi3 is a better deal than the RPi2? MK> Offhand, without knowing for sure, the odroid appears to be a better MK> choice which uses the same cpu except clocked at 2GHz and comes with MK> 2G of ram and a gigabit network chip. There was a small "mistake" in the specs. The chip used in the odroid C2 is capped at 1.5GHz. There was a "miscommunication" by the chip vendor. See official specs: http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php The Odroids are nice computers! (My Fido node is running on an odroid U3) Also there are quit cheap and quit functional devices like ther orange pi pc. I bought one for 9.99 USD including shipping. Hardware is very nice. Software is not that convincing ... but armbian is coming up ;) CU, Ricsi --- GoldED+/LNX * Origin: Oxymoron: Software engineer (2:310/31) |
