Same situation here except I had an up-to-date custom gcc and friends 64-bit
build (aarch64). It was cheap and satisfied my curiousity. The more serious
stuff was still x86_64 at the time. As for the orange pi, I got suckered in
by nvme boot as well as 16G of memory. However every attempt to liberate it
failed. That turned me off and I quickly abandoned it.
