Rep. Ron Wright (R-Texas) died on Sunday evening after testing positive
   for COVID-19 late last month.

"Congressman Ron Wright passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on Feb.
7, 2021," Wright's campaign said in a statement on Monday. "His wife
Susan was by his side and he is now in the presence of their Lord and
   Savior."

Former Trump Campaign Aide and Staunch Pro-Life Advocate Charged With
Receiving, Distributing, and Possessing Child Pornography

Ruben Verastigui, 27, who worked on Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign,
was previously employed as a senior digital strategist for the Senate
Republican Conference and Republican National Committee. He was also
the digital media coordinator for the anti-abortion group Students for
Life of America. He left the Republican Conference in July of 2020 to
become the communications manager for the nonprofit group Citizens For
   Responsible Energy Solutions.

Verastigui was taken into custody following an 11-month investigation by
MPD’s Youth and Family Services Division, the Internet Crimes Against
Children Unit, the Northern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children
Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations. The arrest was first
flagged by journalist Jared Holt, who also posted several horrific and
disturbing excerpts from the criminal complaint filed.

   The details are graphic.

According to that public document, Verastigui allegedly told another
person in April of 2020 that he was “into” sexually assaulting babies.

“So you like babies, huh,” a person asked Verastigui in a chat
   conversation.

   “My absolute favorite,” he replied.

The establishment wing of the GOP won a rare and dramatic victory
Wednesday night when Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) beat back an attempt by
Donald Trump’s staunchest allies to knock her from power as retribution
for voting to impeach the former president just three weeks earlier.

The 145-61 vote in favor of keeping Cheney in leadership, conducted by
secret ballot, followed a marathon closed-door “family discussion” in
the basement of the Capitol Visitor Center, where dozens of House
Republicans lined up to voice their frustrations with the Wyoming
representative, the most powerful GOP woman in Congress, and called for
her removal as conference chair, a role that entails leading the party’s
   messaging efforts.

Both ExxonMobil and BP announced Tuesday that they had sustained major
losses in 2020 amid low demand for oil due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Exxon posted $22.4 billion in losses for 2020, posting a loss of $20.1
   billion for the fourth quarter.

According to Reuters, this was Exxon’s first annual loss.

BP reported $20 billion in losses for 2020, including nearly $1.4
   billion in the fourth quarter.

Chevron, meanwhile, announced last month that it had lost $5.5 billion
in 2020, including $665 million in the fourth quarter.
