   Comments made by British musician and Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters in a   
   recent interview   
   with broadcaster Piers Morgan have triggered widespread criticism among   
   Iranians, who accuse   
   him of downplaying state violence and echoing the Islamic Republic's official   
   narrative.   
      
   During the interview, Waters said recent protests in Iran did not amount to a   
   "regime change"   
   movement, arguing that Iranian society neither seeks the overthrow of the   
   Islamic Republic nor   
   the restoration of the monarchy.   
      
   He described the demonstrations as largely driven by economic grievances   
   rather than political   
   demands.   
      
   The remarks prompted strong reactions on Persian-language social media   
   platforms, where users   
   said Waters had ignored the scale of repression and the killing of protesters.   
      
   Many accused him of deliberately overlooking realities on the ground in Iran.
