From: the.happy.hippy.nntp@ntlworld.invalid              https://metro.co.uk/2026/02/23/bbc-cuts-akinola-davies-jrs-free-       alestine-comment-baftas-coverage-27060887                            The BBC cut the broadcast of an award winner's plea to 'Free Palestine' during       the TV coverage of the Bafta's.                            But at least they broadcast the N-word.              The BBC are now pretending the "Free Palestine" remark was cut due to time       constraints. No one believes them, no one should.              They supposedly couldn't find one whole second to lose from the rest of the       two hour show to include it. Bullshit. It was deliberate censorship pure and       simple.              Not cutting John Davidson MBE's N-word outburst is more debatable. I can see       it from both sides; those who really don't wish to experience such racist       language, set against the involuntary nature of its emission.              I don't think I'd have really cared if it had been cut, bleeped or not, but       leaving it in does at least present the uncomfortable truth which the award       winning 'I Swear' was based upon.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
