After watching the first 4 or 5 episodes, I can say that I do like the new
Doctor. However, I feel like the stories leave a lot to be desired. With
maybe one exception, it feels like they are spending too much time developing
the story and then rushing through the resolution and conclusion of it. Maybe
they are spending too much time trying to be PC in some of the episodes that
they miss fleshing-out the actual storyline?

SPOILER!!!!

In the most-recent episode, they spend at least some time trying to figure out
why there are spiders at the hotel and at the flats. At first, they assumed
the link was the policewoman's mother, who worked at the hotel and lived at the
flats. Later, they "determine" it was a hormonal attraction caused by the
deceased neighbor and her working at the lab where the spiders originally came
from.

However, that determination (and the previous theory) never do cover why there
was also a spider (or had been one) at Graham's house.

That is sort of an example of what I mean. It is like they have to rush to a
determination of a cause of an issue that either leaves it unresolved or that
which is otherwise unsatisfying to me as a viewer. I would rather them not
have worried about why some of the spiders had ventured out and instead worry
about fixing the issue (which the resolution of also felt very rushed compared
to the build-up).

SPOILER #2

I used to sometimes feel like episodes of the NBC (US) TV show "Timeless" were
a rip-off of Dr. Who. However, the Rosa Parks episode of Who felt so much like
an episode of "Timeless" I had to keep reminding myself I was not watching that
show. My least favorite episode so far. I did like the Rosa character,
though, and I think I would have liked the episode more if it was a "Timeless"
episode. :)
