Howdy! Ben, I tried to get the AcerNote Light 370P ext 381 Notebook open to replace the BIOS Battery but couldn't get the case off. Some years ago I had the Service Department at the Store where I bought the Used Notebook put a new battery in, but they couldn't do it. Later I called Acer Support and they gave me a Name of a place who could do it and a Toll Free telephone number to call them. When I told the person who answered about the store couldn't find a BIOS Battery in my Notebook, they told me that it was on the bottom side of a Printed Circuit Board and was hard to get to. I didn't send it off to have them put a new battery in because the Company wasn't near my area where I could drive to their location to get the job done. I looked for a Video on You Tube to show me how to do it but the only video I saw was someone describing what my Model notebook does. I did see a Acer Aspire BIOS Battery video but that is a different unit than mine. When I turn it On I press the F8 Key and wait and wait and wait to see the Safe Mode Menu. The old Hard Drive chatters and chatters but after a while I do see the Menu. Then I select the regular Command Prompt - Not the Safe Mode Command Prompt. I wait awhile and finally see the C:\> Prompt. I can use DIR C:\ /s/-p to save a Text File to that HDD, and it makes the file just fine. I use LIST.COM to read the file I made and also can use LIST.COM to look at all of the files in other Directories on the HDD, and the HDD doesn't chatter or pause when I move from Sub-Directory to Sub-Directory. I put that HDD in a USB adapter and try to see it in Windows Explorer on my XP computer and it chatters away and eventually shows up as a Local Drive, but I can't see any of the files in it. Wierd! But that isn't the only thing wierd in this computer room. |
