In a message on Friday 10-20-16 Roger Nelson said to Holger Granholm:
Hi Roger,
RN> Hej,
HG> goes for any time of day, .
RN> Well, if I can't finish in 1st place, 2nd place will have to do.
That's a good attitude.
I have also had to settle for the silver medal in both nordic and finnish
racing masterships, but in ham radio contests I have reached gold.
RN> All you have to do for that is change your upgrade settings; i.e.,
RN> download, but do not install without your okay. I do that here.
Maybe that is why the Windows Upgrade Assistant icon is up there on my
desktop.
RN> Ah, but it was more than that. The approximate $3,500 price tag for
RN> the machine that was demon'd to the club put off a lot of buyers --
That would also have put me outside the list.
HG> But it can't have been very expensive, because my GS was only
RN> See above. There may have been a discount for those students in
RN> school, but I didn't think of that at that time.
Maybe that was the reason he could afford it, or maybe his best friends
parents did sponsor the machine, since his friend had one.
I'll have to ask him, when I remember.
RN> I must be one of the rare ones who recognized its potential.
I did too, after reading the 'AmigaDOS Inside&Out' manual.
RN> You should have seen it in action. Very impressive.
I did of course have the chance, but I missed it, because my GS lived
with us at the time.
RN> I wanted to go to university for that, but two of my computer
RN> programmer friends talked me out of it. They told me to stick with
RN> BASIC and all of the other things that subsequently came along;
I guess they never got into the computer world.
Have a good day,
Holger
